BT & DT
Well, it looks like the final concert of this year for us (barring any last minute additions) will be BT. We bought tickets for the show about a month ago and took our chances for what could have been a "club night" out. Good techno music never hurt anyone and I've been wanting to see Brian perform live for a while - being as he is one of my favorite electronic artists.
Karen and I arrived at the House of Blues and were given a big treat, in our opinion. Opening up for BT was none other than Thomas Dolby - another artists I managed to miss during his hey day in the '80s. Thomas put on an hour set with an encore, which is very strange for an opening act, but nonetheless he was entertaining and very meticulous with his sound. Building up most of his music on the fly with sequencing tech, he put on a great show and made the show that much better.
Unfortunately for us, I didn't realize that BT was going to be performing his "This Binary Universe" show that night rather than performing his usual stuff, or even dj'ing. We stayed for about half of that show before we called it a night after hearing someone in the audience yell "what the hell is this!?". As much as I enjoyed seeing the visuals and hearing the show live, the DVD comes really close in overall experience. Karen and I opted to finish it a home and enjoy the visuals in its full DTS glory. If you enjoy electronic ambience music, the "This Binary Universe" CD is great and the picture show that accompanies the music on the DVD is awesome. Of course, if you're old school, like me, then you can't beat Thomas Dolby for $17 - you can leave after he's done and have an early night...

Bit by the Beta
This is what I get being an "early adopter" of technology - sometimes I get burned... So, after a not so bitter transition to the new Blogger Beta I have to say that in my opinion, it is no where near ready for "prime time". If you're considering switching - don't. Of course, if you're curious as to why you shouldn't switch, here's a preview of what you can expect...

Arie
For as long as I have known my mother-in-law I have known her to be happy and optimistic. I certainly have never seen her distraught and through any issues the family has faced she has always been supportive in spite of the situation.
My mother-in-law's brother passsed away Wednesday night and for the first time ever in the last decade I saw her with tears in her eyes. Its one of those situations where I wished I could have said or done something to take that pain away from her. For everything she has done for Karen and I, for me, for the love and support that comes to both of us unconditionally... I wished that I could find that one perfect thing to say.
In the end, all I could muster was a hug - hopefully it was enough to convey how I felt. I have met Arie twice before and I enjoyed the time we spent together. He was a beautiful man with a great amount of life experience and a twinkle in his eye. Always ready to laugh and share - he will be missed by all of us. I know that in time my mother-in-law will feel better, I just hope she draws the strength to see herself through the loss.
I love you mom, I hope this gets easier for you.

Say it ain't so...
Everyone knows that I'm a "car guy"... I always lust after two seater, topless mistresses with high revving engines and body designs that cut through the air creating the near perfect driving experience. While this next story may elicit sympathy from most I was especially affected because the Elise has a special place in my heart. Here are some additional pictures that should pretty much convince you that when you have a car like the Elise or any special sports car for that matter - don't get cheap when it comes to keeping it maintained.

10 Things I wish I had never believed
I can agree with all of these and probably add some of my own. Take a gander at the list and see what you think... Isn't it time you reassess some things and make some corrections? Life continues to unfold in front of us, the least we can do is make decisions based on the best information possible - and there's never a better time than the present.

Happy Birthday
Even though I know that you don't like people fussing over your birthday, everything I can think of to do just doesn't seem to be enough. There are few words that I can say that can describe how I feel about you. So, in a small and simple way I want to thank you for being in my life. You are everything that makes me so much better than I can be on my own. I will always be thankful that you decided to take a chance on a goofball like me.
I wish for you the happiest birthday possible - may all your wishes come true on your special day.
I love you Karen - Happy Birthday, Sweetheart...
