A premature farewell. I received a phone call from my dad sunday night. He was calling to let me know that my cousin had been killed in Europe while he was staying in my aunt's house. He was house sitting for her while she was visiting her daughter who lives in Spain. The story is a strange tale of a random crime. A doorbell ring with an unpleasant ending. None of them know the details but the authorities are investigating the crime due to the bizarre story. Of course, my aunt is distraught and she is desperately trying to get back home before an autopsy is performed... I feel sad and I feel angry. Sad for my aunt and family for losing a son, cousin, father and spouse. Angry, for all the obvious reasons. Of course, the worst of all is feeling helpless because of the distance. I can only hope that my family derives the strength to survive the tradgedy. My love goes out to all of them...
