What's in a name? Here's a simple exercise; go to Google's image search engine and type in your name. Hit search and see what happens. Are the people named like you good looking? Are they ugly? Dorky? Plain? Boring? Talented? Rich? Geeky?

Every now and then when Karen and I decide on names for our potential children I always do a background check to see what company I'm placing my children in. I'm always surprised at what I find. I think you'll be surprised at who you'll find staring back at you too...

Random Thought . Its the end of July and its raining - what the hell is that about?

Let's hear it for the "B Team". Well, I have officially launched my first web site. You can check it out here: Shimano Golf - Europe. It appears that some of my training is actually sticking...

Where does the time go? Its Monday morning and it feels like DejaVu - my desk, the familiar chatter of the sales staff outside my office, the smell of coffee and somewhat nutritious snacks... And so my routine repeats for yet another week. Where is the summer going?

The weekend slipped by us relatively quickly, I guess that's what happens when you actually have things to do. In between a serious clean-up effort at home as well as some painting and other household chores we manage to squeeze in a wedding and some "down time". Out of everything we had going the wedding was the highlight of our weekend...

On Saturday, Karen and I were able to witness our friends Kevin and Tammy commit the remainder of their lives to each other - "for better or for worse". It was a beautiful ceremony followed by a wonderful reception, everything you could need for a picture perfect wedding. Amidst all the fanfare I couldn't help but think of our own wedding ceremony and reception... We had a great time reminiscing with old friends and making new ones. I think the best part of the evening was watching everyone enjoy themselves and seeing how much Kevin and Tammy love each other.

The only thing that's left to say of our friends is that they are generous and kind - true friends indeed. Karen and I couldn't be happier that they've found each other and we sincerely hope that they spend the rest of their lives as happy as they were on their wedding day.

Here's to you Kevin and Tammy - Congratulations!

Privacy Redefined. Unfortunate things happen when opportunity and circumstance come together. I'm sure it will be a hard lesson learned by both Kobe Bryant and his accuser. Obviously, we need to realize that in a world of "open sourced" information the internet may be the worst weapon used against anyone that catches the public's attention. Believe what you may, I'm still on the fence about this one. I guess I'll just have to wait until the other shoe falls and make up my mind then.

Acting your age. I'm one for "live and let live", but even in my broad definition of the phrase there comes a limit to some things. Mostly, I draw the line when people impose themselves on others. This can happen in many ways and with different activities and you'd think the answer would be an easy one - cease and desist. Now I love driving cars and most of the time I believe that I have a right to do that in this country but when I get a ticket or get into an accident I'm reminded otherwise. Now don't get me wrong, I try not to discriminate against any one group. This is pretty easy because in my lifetime I've managed to meet less than spectacular examples from just about every ethnic group and every age category. But really, I don't think there's anything wrong with having said groups qualify themselves to participate in the great privilege of driving (I guess you can tell where this is going.... Yes, you guessed it). I think we're handling the teen problem quite well but in respect to our older generation and their refusal to admit the undeniable truth - more needs to be done. They can deny it all they want but driving slow is not the answer and sometimes may not even be the problem. I just think that if we offered an alternative to them so they don't feel like they've lost their waning independence but prevented them from causing problems like this it would be a good thing, don't you think?

Hey Mr. DJ! Recently motivated by a friend of mine to get back into something that I was doing with MyCaster I have set up my own Shoutcast Radio station. It took a little while to figure out my firewall settings and to get the silly thing configured but its now working pretty well. You can listen to my pirate signal here or you can do a directory search on Shoutcast for the "Remix Fix". The format is mostly the golden era of the '80s but sometimes I change it up to a more modern theme. In either case, if you tune in you just might catch me doing voice-overs and other such nonsense. And of course, I take requests...

The great American pastime. It has been years since we've had a summer of "blockbuster" films worth watching. Of course, that's my opinion just based on the subject matter of some of the movies that are now playing at my local theatre. Its actually been nice to avoid the theatres of late for many reasons and in the process we're spending less money and in the end, owning the movies that we really like. With costs nudging $20 a visit for us and quite possibly more if we're hungry it can get out of hand really quick. At home, its quiet, we can pause and rewind and in our small living room its just like being there... without the chattering or cel phone interruptions that are so common nowadays. Of course, we do make exceptions (Spiderman, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter) but they are rare, and with the garbage that hollywood has been cranking out lately its been easy to sit out for three months and catch it on the flipside. Well, I may just have to bend the rules a little this summer with the addition of "The league of extraordinary gentlemen" and "The pirates of the Carribean" there are now 10 movies that I'd like to see - NOW. Here they are in no particular order:

The league of Extraordinary Gentlemen
The pirates of the Carribean
Bad Boys
T3
The Italian job
The Hulk
28 days later
Finding Nemo
Charlie's Angels
Bruce Almighty

The class of '86. My friend Kristal is getting ready for her 20 year high school reunion. As we talked about it over dinner last night we both wondered where the time went. As I recall, when I graduated high school I couldn't see past the following week and it seems that middle age was a distant star in a neighboring galaxy. Its hard to believe that I have my 20 year in less than 3 years. As I look back the road has been interesting, filled with sight-seeing, road blocks, detours and miles of open highway. Of course many people will tell you that its the journey and not the destination. Is that entirely true? I guess it is kind of bizarre that for most things in life, there's planning - for life there usually isn't. Do we expect too much from ourselves or not enough? Where are you, 20 years after high school?

Blast from the Past. I thought I had some obscure '80s MP3s... Well, I found a radio station that beats me hands down. If you like obscure new wave music from that glorious time period, otherwise known as the "Miami Vice era", tune in here.
