Don't be crude... Here's a quick reference for all of you that are trying to deal with the rising cost of moving yourself from Point A to Point B. I didn't realize that the price of gas had become to expensive until I filled up last night - Stickershock! And I'm stuck using 91 Octane... In any case, I hope this trend goes away soon as I will find it difficult to justify going anywhere far.

A not so beautiful day in the neighborhood. Mr. Rogers has passed away and with him I think a part of our childhood...

Just an observation. After spending 9 days in Mammoth last week I have come to this conclusion. You are not a snowboarder unless you can connect your turns. Sorry, all you "leafers" out there - you're just not cutting it...

Fontastic! I think that everyone has differing opinions about design on the web, especially when it comes to font usage. It always seems that people just don't want to apply good sense, they just want to wow you with what they think is a "pretty font". Well people, there are guidelines for this type of thing and here's a basic primer for those of you who are interested. It takes a little more effort, but the pay-off is huge. Here you go...

The master's voice. There's a new twist to blogging. As if writing wasn't enough, now there's a way to place audio diatribe on your web log - AudBlog. This may sound like a good idea and I know I've seen it on Jish's site before but I must say that it may not be a good idea. Unlike writing, which in most cases is a developed skill, speech is not. My personal opinion is that some of my cherished authors look better in print than they sound in real life. Of course, I may suffer from the same syndrome. Besides, if I wanted to talk - I'd just call...
Me escuchas? Bien. I found this article to be interesting. I currently have Sprint as my cel phone provider but I've been with Cingular before. I don't agree with their assessment of the situation because I never got good reception with Cingular and I never had a signal in San Pedro or Mammoth. In any case its interesting even though its not a controlled, scientific experiment.

Happy Birthday to me. Well, as it would seem another year comes to a close and as I look back in review I can't help but be happy. Am I wiser? I hope so. Am I a better person? You'd probably have to ask those around me. Do I continue to make positive changes in my life? That's a definitive "yes". The footnote I leave behind for 2002 and my 33rd year of life is I am surrounded by incredible friends, married to my soulmate and blessed by the one that watches over me. I can't ask for anything more - thanks for stopping by.

The evils of nicotine. I just saw a PSA commercial about smoking on television. Why do we care if people smoke again? I don't really see any point with all the "noble efforts". I mean really, who cares if those people die anyway? Their choice, their consequences. Just do us all a favor and don't try to sue anyone if your lungs are failing or if you're breathing from a hole in your neck.
Holy plastic surgery Batman! Its difficult to believe that Mr. Jackson has only had "two" operations soley on his nose. You be the judge, here's the argument.
Just beat it. Karen and I have had the Michael Jackson 20/20 show taped for a while now. We finally got around to watching it last night. We had heard a lot of commentary about it from friends and the media but we couldn't be prepared enough for what we saw. Parts of the show were disturbing and parts of the show were embarassing to watch. After it was finished we just sat there and didn't really know what to say. The only opinion I have is that Michael needs help in a lot of areas in his life but I can't help but think that in spite of his weirdness I think some of his fans still manage to "out-do" him. What is the mystic grip that the "King of Pop" has on people?

Que pasa? Our super secret plan is moving forward with glorious results. All your bases are belong to us...
War, what is it good for? You can ask anyone - I never really have any opinions about politics. More to the point, I have a pretty apathetic and cynical view of our political state. Not to say that I don't enjoy this country's freedoms (I wouldn't live anywhere else), but I do believe that our system is at a point where we, the people cannot affect change even by voting. Furthermore, I truly believe that no matter who sits in power, nothing really changes that affects us personally. Case in point - No matter who's been in office have you still stopped paying your bills, going to movies, driving your car or stopped shopping at Costco? Probably not. I can honestly say that no president has made any change in my immediate life whatsoever...
So now I hear all these opinions about war and impending doom and the like. What am I supposed to think? Actually, I really don't care much because I fall asleep every night knowing that the political machine in this country will do as it wills and there's no amount of common sense or intervention that will help. We'll just have to deal with the consequences... Well, now I'm personally invested because I have family out on the front lines of this soon to be engagement and I'd like to have him back in one piece - thank you very much. The inside scoop from his perspective is that we're going to war - soon.
His plight has a chilling effect on us and I can only try to imagine what his wife is going through. I must say, I commend her on managing his absence and still being able to laugh and smile. I can only hope that this whole thing has a worthwhile outcome and maybe if there are real issues at stake that we can take care of them. We don't need to apologize to the world for what we do anymore but I think that this is outweighed by the fact that we don't need to be the orchestrator of the needless deaths of our friends and family in the armed forces.
Mark's already been charged to bring himself back safely, now I'm charging our government to watch over our troops and bring them all back safe and unharmed. Anyone listening..?
